Blood

Lexi has had a series of changes in her health in the last few days. For starters, she has a little cold, which includes a runny nose and cough. We are closely watching her to make certain there is no breathing trouble, and for now, it seems it is just a cold. After the last month, though, we are playing neurotic parents and feeling very justified.

Lexi also had a change with her blood clot. We had an ultrasound done of her leg, and her blood clot is gone. We spoke with the hematologist, and the normal course for the blood thinner, Lovenox, is 2 months minimum. So, we will have to continue giving her a shot once a day. We are all looking forward to that day coming, but looks like we are within reach, and we are ecstatic that the blood clot isn't there threatening her life. They are going to be drawing blood (they actually tried to draw the blood today, but after 4 sticks with the needle, and no blood, they gave up, so we return next week) to make certain it was the central line and not some other condition that caused the blood clot. We're assuming it was the stupid central line, but will be glad to be reassured.

Spinning

Spinning has become a popular form of exercise, and since we are working on strengthening Lexi's leg muscles, she decided to use this as a great workout. I was sitting in the recliner, and she pushed me around in circles, thinking she was funny. Her legs have gotten back the same strength as before this last hospitalization, so we are very happy about that.

We came back to the QC this weekend to check on both our moms, who each had surgery in the last couple weeks. Both were successful, but we were still anxious to see them. They are both doing great, and we all enjoyed spending time with them.

Lexi enjoyed time with the cousins as well. She and Jack fought over the walker, and Lexi enjoyed being the older cousin and picked on him a little. She and Laini got in buckets and Aunt Alisa took them on a boat ride, which was fun as well. It was nice to get home and have everyone see each other and know that all parties are back to healthy.
