We decided to throw a curve ball into Lexi's education. We were presented with an opportunity to send her to the Moog Center for Deaf Education. This is where she has been receiving her private speech therapy for the last year, and what we attribute to a lot of her growth. She started there today, and was the most excited about the lunch box!
Half of Lexi's day will be spent in a preschool classroom with a normal curriculum. The other half the day will be spent in intensive speech, language, and syntax one on one or one on two sessions. They try to keep them accountable with the language throughout the day and have great success on their speech growth in kids. We are hoping they can do the same for Lexi. Our plan is to send her for one year and then start kindergarten next year, as would have been our original preference.
Her first day seemed a success, as she was very animated about what they did, who she met, and her lunchbox! We know she is going to be tired and this is a big change (for both Lexi and mom), but we hope this really gives her a kick start. She has proven she can face a challenge and go beyond expectations, and we are hoping this is the same!
