First Day of School

Alexis and Conner both had their first day of school today. Last week, we receive a call from Alexis's teacher wanting to touch base. She asked how open we were about things, as she really wanted to talk to the class about Alexis and foster a good community of understanding. Yes, please! Then, we talked to the nurse, and her resource teacher called. It was awesome, and such a proactive way to start the year. So, today was the day that they started.

We dropped Conner off first, and he ran in without even saying goodbye. When I picked him up, he asked if he could just stay at school. I'll call that a success.

Alexis also had a great day. When she got there, she put her lunch where it was supposed to go and got her backpack in the locker. She then sat down at her desk, and this really nice little boy, Carter, helped her get her markers out and told her what she needed to do. He was so sweet! Then, her one friend she already knows came in from the bus and sits right across from her. She said she played with Kendall at recess, loved art (go figure), and had a great day. Although it was really hard on mom to not have a mid-day check in with her, she didn't seem to mind. She was exhausted, but had a great day!

Status Quo

Alexis had her check up today, and the boys went along. They did great, and Alexis chose to sit on Conner's lap to get accessed and her chemo administered. She sure does love her brother!

It wasn't a super long visit, but then we had to wait about an hour at the pharmacy to pick up her meds. So, we took the opportunity to do a little photo shoot.

All Alexis's counts checked out ok. She did start having seizures again this past week, so we had talked to the Neuro about them. They had increased her meds, but didn't know why this was continuing to occur and said we didn't have much further to be able to go up in the meds. We talked to the oncologists, and they didn't have any ideas either. This is starting to be the most frustrating part. So scary when it deals with the brain, esp if they can't get it under control. So frustrating to not have any insight or direction of where to go.

Hider Stuck

Maybe she needs to rethink her hiding spots if it ends up with her stuck in the trash can.
