Saturday at MoBot

We had picture perfect weather today, so we took Lexi to the Missouri Botanical Gardens. She loved checking out all the plants and animals, and as usual, was really attracted to anything involving water. She had a blast, but definitely was worn out by the time we left!

Big Birthday Bash

Although Lexi's actual birthday was Friday, the real birthday bash was on Saturday. It started in the morning with a trip to a butterfly garden with Grandpa Kevin, Grandma Deb, Grandma Phyllis, and Dave, Cori and her cousins while Dad and Mom prepped for the party, and while some of her cousins were still on the road rolling into town. Reports were that Lexi loved walking around and seeing all the butterflies.

After Lexi caught a nap, it was time for the party to begin, and this year's theme was a luau. All seven of her first cousins were in town to help her celebrate the occasion. Festivities included wearing lei's and grass skirts, drinking from coconut glasses, and playing pin the beak on the flamingo. Lexi couldn't top some of her older cousins in the featured game of the day, but she sure had a fun time trying!

Later in the evening after dinner, she opened some presents, and then tore into the hula girl cake which Mom had made. We briefly gave her some hands on time with her special birthday cake, but then went the more traditional route of dishing her up a piece this year.

The birthday girl and her cousin Jack couldn't quite stay up for the party's grand finale, which was a fireworks display in the driveway. We were one of three consecutive houses on the street to be shooting some off, so it was a fun display of pyrotechnics for the kids and a good way to celebrate 4th of July eve!
