There are so many people that dismiss Alexis. This is the reality when you have health issues or language delays or speech problems from hearing or chemo. It's human nature when you don't understand something or something is out of the norm to just walk away. We have accepted this, and Alexis has always been fine with it. She seems determined to show everyone that she is just like them despite the outward appearance. She doesn't get phased.
Well, this little girl from dance class has always accepted, included, and loved Alexis from day one through the last four years of health issues. They go to different schools, don't have the same friends, but she always has invited her to her birthday parties, asked to do play dates, and made sure Alexis was included in all social situations. This little girl has done what most can't...she has looked past the outward and seen how great Alexis's soul really is. She has been patient understanding her speech and taken her hand when her walk has been a little slow. She has been a true friend. We cherish that.
Now after four years, we have to say our goodbye. They are moving, which makes us sad. We will be grateful for this kind soul that showed Alexis such friendship. She has been the true definition of a friend.
