Me and My Friend Marvin

Earlier this month, Lexi and Conner got the opportunity to hang with Marvin McNutt for a little while. Iowa's all-time touchdown leader who is headed to the NFL next month hails from St Louis, and he was hosting a charity event here in town, so Conner asked to drop by for a little while. Not only was it an opportunity to donate a few bucks to a good cause, but Conner also was able to meet the Hawkeye great who dons the same #7 jersey Grandma Deb gave him last year.

Although very tough to tell the two apart in photos, Conner is the one who is slightly shorter and has a little bit lighter hair color in the photos above. He also is much, much more difficult to contain in the open field!

Tractor Play

Late this afternoon, we met my high school friend, Karen, at a special park. Almost a year ago, there was an unfortunate accident where Karen lost her 19 month old. We headed out to meet her at this park that was put up and dedicated in his memory and to see her and her daughter. The tractor was perfect for Conner...climb up one side, slide down the other. We also stayed long enough, that we ended up getting McDonald's for dinner, so the kids were in heaven (esp. when we allowed them to eat a few fries off the ground...dirt can't hurt, right?). They had a good time, and I was able to check in on a good friend who has had to live through the worst experience any person could. With all Lexi has gone through, we have been so close to this, and can't imagine how she is getting through. She's an amazing inspiration!
