Boy's Birthday Bash

We had a combined birthday bash for the boys at the local train store. It started with the kids playing with the trains, followed by a pinata, and then on to the birthday cake. The boys had a great time and Gavin had more interest in the second cake!

Cousin Playtime

The kids got time with their cousins who came down for the birthday parties. We went to the Botanical Gardens for the morning and had a great time!

Gavin's First Birthday

Gavin had a great first birthday. We spent the morning at the mall play area, since it was raining, with some friends. Then, we went on the carousel. For lunch, we went to Firehouse subs where the boys got sandwiches and fire hats (and mom suffered through an awful sub to make the experience worth it!). 

Dad made it home in time to see the smash cake. Gavin had absolutely no interest in the cake at all. We gave him some time to go at it on his own, but he didn't want to. So, we took his hand and smashed it into the cake. Then, he was just irritated that he had this stuff on his hand. We then thought, ok, we'll just put it in his mouth...once he gets a taste, he'll go to town. Nope...no interest still. Finally, we just took some and smashed it on his head to get a picture. 

We ended the night with a couple presents. Gavin actually got into unwrapping the gifts on his own. At least he figured out one birthday tradition! Gavin spent the rest of the day trying to get up the nerve to walk on his own. He would stand for 5 minutes and then finally plop down and crawl.
