Field Trip
Alexis had her field trip today to the nature conservatory. Laura was lucky enough to go along. They took a hike where they looked for different bugs. They had two learning sessions about life cycle with different animals and then had time to explore the displays. It was fun to see the kids interact and such a good learning opportunity.
Stuck for a Buck
A few weeks ago, Alexis came home with a box to collect change in. I looked at it and realized that it was for the leukemia and lymphoma society. They were doing a fundraiser to raise money for the organization. Brian and I thought, "wow, what a coincidence for our family" and started piling our change in there.
A couple weeks later, a few days before it was due, we got notification that the principals were getting duck taped to the wall. The students could bring in a dollar for every piece of tape. This money would go to the leukemia society as well. The morning of the event, I contacted her teacher to see if it would be ok for the boys and I to join and watch, since this is an important cause to us. That's when she told me that she is actually the head of the social action committee, and they had chosen this fundraiser specifically for Alexis. It was not a coincidence...
So, we headed to there and joined in on the activities. As soon as we walked in, the principal looked at Alexis and said, "We are doing this all for you." I about lost it. So, Alexis was the first kid to take a piece of tape and put it over the principal. They ended up using 32 rolls of tape for the event. It was so touching to have them do this and feel the support of her school.
