Mommy Time

I spent the weekend as a single mom, while Brian headed to Chicago for a road race and a Cub's game. Saturday, I met a friend at Six Flags for a little bit to let the kids ride the rides. As soon as she saw me, she insisted on pushing their stroller, and she took them on the couple rides that I wasn't allowed to ride pregnant. Plus, Conner loved riding the rides with his little girlfriend, Jane. So, it was a great outing. I got a little rest, the kids got to go on fun rides, and we were all exhausted, so they took good naps in the afternoon!

The only funny part was the kids asking for Da-da the whole day, which I responded with, "You'll see Da-da on Monday." They would then say, "Amy?", and I would give the same response about Lexi's speech pathologist (just happened we were seeing her Monday). I soon realized that people around probably thought their dad left their very pregnant mom to go be with his mistress, and on top of that, I had to hear their names constantly as a reminder! Whatever entertainment we can provide!

Tough as Nails

Conner may be in a big boy bed now and handling that transition very well, but the "C" in Conner definitely doesn't stand for Courage when it comes to some other things he encounters these days. Guess he has a little growing up to do before he's tough as nails like his old man!

Exhibit A: When we visited Grandpa Kevin's cabin last weekend, Conner wasn't too pleased when he first walked in and saw a variety of animal eyes on the wall staring at him. We tried to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one, as there are more mounts than your average taxidermist shop in there, and being in close proximity to trophy elk, wild boars, and 8ft alligators might be a little different than reading about them in books.

Exhibit B: When we went to a park a few days later, though, he became frightened of the little holes on the floor of the playground equipment and became convinced he was going to fall through them. Guess he's hitting a stage where some fear is setting in... at least we shouldn't have to worry about him running off to go sky-diving or bungee jumping any time soon!
