The Carslake cousins came this weekend, and we enjoyed a day at six flags. The kids couldn't get enough of their cousins, and Natalie and Laini couldn't get enough of Gavin. They helped feed him, clothe him, and even changed his diaper. Now all I need to do is convince Alisa to let her kids move in with me, and I would be on easy street!

Little Stinker
Gavin hasn't crawled quite yet, but that hasn't stopped him from scooting where he wants to go and getting into mischief when we turn our back on him for a few moments. Today, he must have decided that the toys we placed near him in our living room weren't nearly as interesting as the wipes he noticed on the floor across the room. A quick trip to the kitchen was all he needed to make a break for it, and he was quite proud when we turned around and found him playing with the forbidden item.
Normally the wipes are stashed in the hall closet; it didn't seem like leaving them across the room was a big deal, given he's not crawling yet and given they were snapped closed... but we were proven wrong on both accounts when we thought those circumstances were enough to keep G-money out of the wipes.

On to Kindergarten!
Lexi's last year of preschool was today. They had an end-of-the-year party, which consisted of ice cream and games. Conner joined in on all of the above, and even baby Gavin made it to the head of the class with Lexi's teacher how wanted a baby fix!
Lexi had such a fabulous year in her last year of preschool. We can't say enough about the impact this school has had on her. Her teachers this year, Mrs. Natalie and Mrs. Laura, were fabulous and believed in her so much. It's so nice to have teachers that encouraged Lexi and made her develop the skills that are there. It took us about half an hour to get out of the building as we said our tearful goodbyes.
We recently met with her team from the preschool and sat down to write her IEP for kindergarten. Her current team (teachers, OT, PT, and speech therapists along with the administrators at the school) were big supporters and guides in the process. We also had Mrs. Amy, Lexi's private speech pathologist, give Lexi the Apraxia test. We came into the meeting armed with those results (showing Lexi in the 1st percentile for speech among her peers) and research talking about the level of intervention needed for kids with Apraxia. Between all of us, we were able to get Lexi into a full mainstream full day kindergarten classroom with an aid. She will receive 30 minutes of OT, 30 minutes of PT, 30 minutes of music therapy, 150 minutes of speech, and 150 minutes of language per week, for which she will be pulled into a resource room. Her current team was so ecstatic when we left, since special school district recognized her cognitive abilities despite her language deficit. They were amazed with all the services we were able to get. She hopefully will start kindergarten off with a great team to help her growth continue.

End of School Year Bash
Tonight we attended an end of the school year bash near our house. Festivities included bounce houses, magicians, and a ton of games. One of the highlights definitely was the ambulance & fire truck parked outside, as the kids not only got to sit on the trucks, but also go inside and check things out. Another big hit for both kids was the face and arm painting, and both did a good job holding still.
For Lexi and Conner, one choose a pretty yellow flower and the other chose a bug. Nope, it wasn't Lexi who choose the flower, but rather our Con-man iron man who went that route. We put the hard sell on for other options, but there simply was going to be no baseball or snake nonsense for this guy... only raw flower power.

Bikers
We have been taking advantage of the nice weather and the Cul-de-sac near us by taking the kids to ride their bikes there. Conner and Lexi love their tricycles and riding them around in a circle. Gavin even got to ride in his little car. The minute he was put in, he started turning the wheel to drive. Look out drivers, there is a crazy driver on the road now!
