Pinkalicious Birthday Girl

Lexi had her 4th birthday party on Saturday. The party was basically family and then one set of neighbors who came. Lexi's favorite book at the moment is Pinkalicious, so we had a Pinkalicious party for our little girl. Obviously everything was pink from the decorations to even the food (with pink bread thanks to Grandma Phyllis). Lexi loved getting dressed up for the party and was well aware of for whom the celebration was!

We decorated pink flip flops and Lexi got introduced to Lalaloopsy from her cousins. That's pretty fitting gifts, since Lexi has started referring to herself recently as La-La. She loved the dolls, the party, and especially the cupcakes!

Lexi finished the night with her very first sleepover where she was two floors away from mom and dad. Mom was a little nervous, but realizes at some point, you have to let go. She did great, not moving from her sleeping bag, since she was threatened if she did, she would have to leave the party. She slept there all night and was the last one up in the morning...I guess that means she had a great time at her party!

Emergency Room Withdrawal

Last weekend we headed back to the Quad-Cities to spend some time with family and celebrate Scobie's 40th birthday with a big bash at the Carslake's. We're not sure whether Lexi was jealous of the birthday attention, or whether she simply was going through emergency medical care withdrawal given her recent run of good health, but whatever the case, Lexi decided to pull a little stunt which awarded her an ER trip and a few hours of one-on-one time with Mom and Dad. She tripped while walking across Grandpa and Grandma's deck, and despite the fact she wasn't moving that fast & despite the fact she fell into a plastic deck chair without any sharp edges, she caught the arm of the chair just right and popped open the skin outside her right eye. The event was not a true catastrophe, and there wasn't anything anyone could have done to prevent it, but it still was a Saturday morning bummer for our little girl!

Actually after saying there's nothing anyone could have done about Lexi's ER trip,  we were reminded that Conner's worst fall to date, a tumble which gave him a double black eye as a souvenir, came when the exact same cast of characters were in close proximity and supposedly on duty -- Grandma Deb, Grandma Phyl, and GG Betty! =)
