Hospital Time

Well, we find ourselves back in the hospital, but with Brian's dad instead of Alexis. He has been having chest pains and they finally determined he needed a quadruple bypass heart surgery. So, we headed to Iowa.

We let the kids go up and see him before the procedure. The boys totally embraced him, having seen lots of hospitals before. Alexis, on the other hand, wouldn't get out of the stroller and wouldn't have anything to do with Papa. She finally worked up to giving him a high five. She was totally scared that she would end up there or as Brian figured out that she would catch what papa has. She knows to stay away from "germs", but that's still a hard concept at this age. Luckily, papa wasn't offended.

Papa wears his robe everywhere! So, we thought it would give him a good laugh to have the kids visit him in the hospital in their robes. Unfortunately, it was such a rush to get up there, we forgot to get them dressed, so took pictures after and sent it to him as a good luck. The surgery went well, and now we start a long week of recovery.

Ice Cream

Gavin had his ice cream social tonight for school. It was fun to see friends and meet new parents. Of course, the best part was the ice cream...obviously since I couldn't even get them to look at the camera.

Working

Last week Alexis thought she should live at the hospital, and today she tried to work there. She had her normal treatment, and her counts were up to around 2500! When I went out to make her appointment for next month, it took a little bit due to a system glitch. When I came back, she was sitting on her nurses lap helping her chart. It was so adorable.

Besides working there, she was so brave today. She had no issues getting accessed. Then, she was supposed to get a sedated CT scan, they asked if she wanted to just walk back and try to lie still instead of being under for it. She said yes. I thought the minute they strapped her arms and head down that she would freak out. Instead, she layed there still the entire time she was getting it and denied even watching an iPad or anything. She totally rocked it and surprised mom!

Then, she went in for her sedated LP. She can only pick one person to go in. She could not pick between mom and dad. Finally, dad just went in, and she just chilled as they did it. When she woke up, she was her happy self. She continues to amaze us every time. Although it's sad that part of it is that she is just used to it, we are also proud that she is so brave.
