Whether it was her hip issues or just a lack of interest, Lexi never was much of a climber. However, the same cannot be said of child #2 in our household, who has started to scale everything in sight these days. Every time we turn around, he's standing on chairs, standing on couches, or even standing up on toys like bikes & rocking horses.
Recently, though, he's taken his climbing habits to the next level. He no longer is content to stand on things, but rather is trying to scale everything he encounters. He can't go through the baby gate on the stairs, so he started to scale in it in a (thankfully so far unsuccessful) attempt to get up or down the stairs when he wants. He can't reach things on the top shelp of the kitchen set, so he's started opening the over door and strategically using it as a platform to reach new heights. He can't reach things towards the back of upper floors in Lexi's new doll house, so he's started scaling the front corner of the doll house king kong-style to get those things. And speaking of king kong, the Con-man also has realized that if you can't scale something, then knocking it to the ground can be another effective method to get what you want. Over the holidays, Conner was napping in a bedroom upstairs at Alisa & Scobie's house, with cousin Jack in another bedroom, and cousin Beckett in a third bedroom on the top floor of the house. The adults were playing cards downstairs, when a noise came from the top of the stairs. Each of the 3 sets of parents of the 3 boys took turns denying it was their child, with our being especially confident since Conner was in a pack'n'play. Someone eventually went to check, and to everyone's surprise, it was none other than the Con-man triumphantly standing and laughing at the top of the stairs. A quick investigation revealed that the little dude had shaken the sides of the pack'play so hard, that he brought all 4 sides to the ground, then simply stepped out and did his own things up there. In case earlier warning signs weren't enough, we are officially in big trouble in the coming months!
