Bean and Boat

Saturday we started with swimming, so we made certain to get that in and not disappoint the kids. They had a blast!

We headed to a couple Chicago favoritesin the afternoon. We wanted to do stuff outside to minimize the germ exposure. The day called for rain, but we were lucky it held off and let us enjoy outdoor Chicago sites.

We started with the Bean and water faces. The kids had a blast splashing in the water. Mom was a little nervous it was slippery and someone was going to fall. Luckily, only Gavin did and was able to catch himself. We avoided any major issues.

We then went to the Bean. Gavin was intrigued with seeing himself in the structure. The other two had very little interest.

We then headed back to Navy Pier for a boat ride. It was a 40 min ride out on the lake. The kids thought it was fun to be on the water and a boat. Conner asked when the Pepsi was going to arrive, and I had to explain it was not like an airplane, much to his disappointment. Despite no soda, it was still a good time.

We ended the night with dinner at Rainforest Cafe. Again, a great hit and good ending to a great day!

Chicago Solo

Brian had a bachelor party this weekend  in AZ for a wedding he is in. We also had a family wedding for the Bunch side in Chicago. So, we split ways and Laura and the kids headed to Chocago on their own. Laura's mom went with and met the test of the Bunch family.

Friday morning we spent a couple hours at the downtown Children's museum. Correctly predicted, it wasn't too crowded being a Friday with school still in session. The kids had a blast fishing, putting out fires, having skateboard races, playing in the water, and climbing everything. Gavin even mastered going down the fireman slide on his own much to the amazement of several people around. He really is a little monkey!

We are a quick lunch and then hit the Ferris wheel. The kids thought it was pretty cool to be that high. We then headed for the wedding. Kids had a blast, but were a little disappointed we didn't have time for the pool. Whenever we go on vacation, pool time is all they really care about!

Fever go away

While most people are chanting rain, rain go away, we are chanting for Alexis's fever to go away. She spiked 101 degree fever again today. So, we headed back to the hospital with her for them to check her out. No new positive tests, so still just this cold she has had for over a week getting her down occassionaly. Either that or all the fluid she is losing with it is causing mild dehydration and mild fever. So, I guess we will continue the game and hope our chant for the fever to go away works! Only bad part of the day was scrambling once again to beg friends to take the boys. That game is getting old!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was great this year. Laura got spoiled with a pedicure and a little shopping. While shopping, Brian was busy dressing up the kids clothes to send a cute message. We played a little in the backyard and tried to ride bikes in the culdesac before the rain set in. Then, the kids gave gifts and homemade cards.

The kids did a great job listening all day. They did whatever I wanted and were really nice. I even asked them to line up at the door, and they did without fighting for who for to go first!

All week I had been trying to get Conner to tell me what they had bought. He stayed stronger. He wouldn't tell no matter how I asked, "what did you get mom?", "what is the name of the place you went to get a gift?", "can you describe what you got?" Each time he just smiled and said no. Pretty smart.

Then, he went to hand me the gift, and before it was opened said, "I can tell you now that we for your gift at lifetime." So, after all week of him keeping it in, he said right before the big moment. He might be my kid!
